The Doorstep Change Matrix

This analysis takes a deep dive into Labour’s 2024 manifesto, breaking down over 200 commitments into a clear and transparent framework.

By evaluating each policy based on visibility, ease of implementation, and the timeframe for delivering results, the Doorstep Change Matrix highlights the most impactful actions Labour can prioritise in government.

Our approach is rooted in one key question: what policies will people see, feel, and believe in? It’s about focusing on real-world changes that voters can experience in their daily lives - policies that demonstrate competence, fairness, and vision.

The matrix categorises Labour’s commitments into phases:

  • Quick Wins: Immediate, highly visible policies that can be delivered early to show voters that government is working for them - from fixing potholes to providing free breakfast clubs.

  • Next Steps: Moderate-effort actions, like ensuring face-to-face GP appointments, that build momentum while addressing urgent priorities.

  • Heavy Lifting: Ambitious reforms requiring sustained effort, such as improving public sector pay or tackling the housing crisis.

  • Building Blocks: Foundational policies that set the stage for systemic change, like empowering local leaders to franchise bus services.

  • Long Haul: Transformational goals, such as halving health inequalities or building 1.5 million homes, that will take time but reshape Britain’s future.

At its heart, this analysis focuses on Doorstep Change, bold, achievable actions that pack the biggest punch - ensuring Labour can deliver results that are not only measurable but also resonate deeply with voters. By prioritising visible improvements, Labour can start rebuilding trust and laying the foundations for transformative change.

This framework provides a roadmap and narrative for Labour to meet the moment: delivering quick, meaningful progress while tying it to a broader vision of fairness, opportunity, and a government that works for everyone.

“What this analysis shows is that change isn’t just about ambition - it’s about urgency, visibility, and purpose. Labour has a bold agenda, but to rebuild trust, it must start with tangible results that people can see and feel in their everyday lives. Fixing potholes or providing breakfast clubs may seem small, but these are the visible actions that show government is working for them.

It’s not just about delivery, though. These policies need to be tied together into a bigger story - a vision of fairness where government fixes what’s broken and ensures that everyone, from water companies to private schools, plays by the same rules. Voters need to know whose side Labour is on.

Britain is at a turning point, and people are desperate for proof that politics can deliver. This is Labour’s chance to act swiftly, deliver visible results, and show that change is real - not just rhetoric. If they don’t seize it, someone else will.”
